In the third visit held on 17th February, 2018 the values of cooperation and sharing, respect for elders, cleanliness, dependability and pride in oneself and the country were imparted to the students through a skit and poem. It was also felt that the students were now eagerly looking forward to the next session to learn more.
The UWA members devised a brief questionnaire on the topic of the day and collected data which showed that the values and morals are here to stay.
Healthy eating habits and balanced diet were the main themes of the fourth value education held on 28th April, 2018. The interactions were more relaxed and fruitful. Some even started enquiring about the topic of the day. Children were asked about their diet and eating habits by way of introducing the subject. This was followed by a skit, in which they played the role of various fruits and vegetables, conveying the benefits and nutritive value of each of them. The poem, 'health banao' was recited with much enthusiasm as by now the children were aware of the meaning of each line of the poem. Charts prepared by the UWA members, on the topic of balanced diet and nutritional values of food items were displayed for the benefit of children.
It is heartening to see the young faces light up to learn more at each session. It is an ongoing effort on our part to improve the sessions further every time. It is our strong recommendation that value based education and moral education should be made part of the school curriculum, to combat the growing incidences of juvenile delinquency and crimes.
